After the hotel one-key total-off function is activated, which devices must absolutely not be powered off?
In hotel guest room smart control, the "one-key total-off" function is very common, but "one-key total-off" does not mean "cutting all power."
If the design cuts power to all devices at once, it can easily compromise the guest experience and even create safety and operational risks.
A truly sound logic is to turn off the circuits that can be safely shut down while maintaining continuous power supply to devices that must remain energized.
First and foremost, safety-critical devices must never be powered off—for example, emergency lighting, fire exit indicator lights, guest room door lock power supplies, and emergency call buttons. These devices are essential for occupant evacuation and safety identification. If they are cut off, nighttime corridor visibility, door lock status, and emergency assistance may all be affected.
Next are amenity-critical devices, such as guest room minibars, small refrigerators, low-voltage distribution boxes, routers, or guest room smart gateways. If the refrigerator loses power, beverages and perishable food may spoil. If the gateway is powered down, the guest room smart system may fail to reconnect to the network properly.
Additionally, operational equipment requires careful handling, including fresh air supply, exhaust fans, sump pumps, and surveillance power supplies. Although you can lower or partially turn off air conditioning circuits when the room is unoccupied, completely cutting fresh air and exhaust can lead to odors, dampness, or degraded air quality. If a sump pump is accidentally shut off, it may also create a risk of water accumulation.
During on-site commissioning, the one-key total-off function should be implemented on a per-circuit basis: lights are turned off, air conditioning enters energy-saving mode, non-essential sockets are de-energized, while safety circuits, refrigerators, door locks, surveillance, and necessary ventilation circuits are kept energized.
