For a shopping mall with 300 circuits. Both suppliers quote "KNX smart lighting": one at 450,000, the other at 230,000. The price gap does not come from brand differences, but quotation scope. You cannot compare prices unless these 6 items are fully aligned.

  1. How circuits are counted? Are circuits converted by luminaire quantity or configured based on actual circuits? 8-channel modules MTN6705-0008S + MTN6805-0008 versus single-channel flush-mounted MTN6003-0011 can result in a 30% difference in module quantity. Quotation sheets must specify: total circuit count, load per circuit, module model and channel quantity.

  2. What level does "dimming support" refer to? Switching / 0-10V (MTN647825) / DALI (MTN6725-0005S + MTN6825-0005). This single phrase covers three completely different cost tiers.

  3. Missing the "3 core components" equals a semi-finished system. Bus power supply MTN6513-1201 / MTN6513-1202 | KNX/IP Gateway MTN680312 | Logic Controller LSS100200. If these three items are omitted, countless extra costs will arise later.

  4. Panel price gap lies in the coupler. Is MTN6002-0004S priced separately, or are bus panels supplied with integrated couplers? This affects only user experience, not basic system operation. Clarify project positioning first.

  5. Cabinets & Cables. Module quantity determines cabinet size, bus cable length and conduit routing. Low quotations often cut corners here, and extra charges will be added on site.

  6. Commissioning & After-sales. ETS addressing, scene configuration and DALI addressing all require man-hours. Spare parts: genuine factory parts or used components, plus warranty duration.

In short: When quotes vary by double, the difference is rarely brand premium, but inconsistent quotation boundaries. Create a checklist covering these six items before price comparison. Ask both vendors to fill in the same form, then compare the total price.
