Product Overview
The N 525D11 sits between a conventional switching actuator and a full KNX/DALI gateway. Two digital outputs are on board, yet they work in DALI broadcast fashion, which means everything wired to one output receives the identical command. Because the unit carries a DALI-2 certificate and can additionally steer colour temperature, it brings digital ballast control to zone-oriented lighting schemes without any addressing work on site.
Technical Specifications
| Protocol | KNX device energised from the bus line, installed in a distribution board as an N-dimension rail unit, so no auxiliary supply terminal is needed beside it. Two DALI outputs are provided, each accepting up to twenty electronic control gear units, giving a ceiling of forty ballasts per actuator. |
| Dimming | Switching on and off, relative dimming brighter or darker and direct entry of an absolute dimming value. Luminaires whose white point can be shifted are tuned from warm to cool white by the same broadcast telegram, which is the way Tunable White behaviour is achieved on this device. No DALI short addresses have to be assigned, so commissioning reduces to wiring the digital line and deciding how the output should respond. |
| Local Operation | A direct mode at the device allows lamps to be switched and dimmed from the front panel while the bus is offline, which helps during installation and later servicing. |

| Limitations | As broadcast control always acts on the entire output, the unit is not intended for schemes that need single-luminaire or group addressing, nor does it replace a gateway where DALI sensors, emergency lighting routines or per-luminaire scenes are specified. |
Application Scenarios
The typical setting is general lighting that is dimmed as a whole circuit: corridors, stairwells, storage halls and technical rooms, sales floors and showrooms, and simple Tunable White installations in offices or waiting areas. It also suits renovations where DALI drivers are already installed and individual addressing would be pointless overhead, and smaller buildings where a full KNX/DALI gateway would overshoot the lighting concept.
