Product Description
Product Overview

The NP16161_01SL is a two-key Unica KNX push button in a silver finish — a neutral grey-silver that is the most widely specified of the four finishes in this range, because it sits comfortably beside stainless steel and aluminium without drawing attention to itself.

The device carries its own bus coupling unit and connects to the KNX line through a bus connecting terminal, so it is programmed and addressed like any other device on the installation rather than through a separate interface. Two keys with short and long press behaviour are enough for a room that needs a small number of lighting groups and a scene recall, and the application program also supports value output, shifting registers, and colour temperature control where the luminaires allow it.

The backlit key symbols appear only when the panel is active, and the surface is otherwise a flat plane.

System Integration Notes

Because this finish is neutral, it is often carried across a whole project — and that raises the question of consistency. The same two-key panel in every room gives the occupant a predictable device, but it also means the labelling foils have to be managed carefully, since a panel labelled for one room and fitted in another will still work and will still be wrong.

The frames are ordered separately and must match. On a silver finish, a mismatch of shade is more visible than it would be on a dark one. Where the panels are used for scene recall, the scene numbers should be fixed at project level and the same numbers applied in every room, because the only thing more confusing than an unlabelled panel is a labelled panel that does not do what it says.

The proximity function is worth enabling in corridors and disabling in bedrooms. The night brightness should be set by looking at the panel in darkness.

Application Scenarios
  • Office floors are the largest application, where a neutral silver panel is repeated across many rooms that differ in layout but not in the way the lighting is used.
  • Hotels use it in corridors, lift lobbies, and public areas where a plain finish is preferred to a decorative one.
  • Healthcare buildings specify it because the finish is easy to clean and reads as clinical without appearing institutional.
  • Schools and universities apply it where the same panel serves teaching rooms with different furniture layouts.
  • Transport buildings use it in waiting areas and enquiry halls where the device has to survive a lot of operation and remain visually neutral.

The four-key variant of the same panel is used where the room needs more groups while the finish stays identical.
