NP16162_01SL Schneider Unica KNX 4 Key Push Button Silver Backlit Symbols Scene Recall 86mm Panel Unit
The NP16162_01SL is a four-key Unica KNX push button in a silver finish — the neutral grey-silver that is specified most often where a device must be repeated across a large number of rooms without becoming a design statement. Four keys on a backlit face provide enough capacity for lighting groups, a curtain, and a scene. Because the symbols are produced by the backlighting rather than engraved, the same hardware can be labelled differently in each room using the foils supplied with the device.
The panel carries its own bus coupling unit and connects to the KNX line through a bus connecting terminal. It is commissioned in ETS together with the rest of the installation. Each key distinguishes a short press from a long press, and the extended settings add value output, shift register operation, and colour temperature control.

With four keys, the panel becomes a small interface rather than a pair of switches, and the arrangement of functions on the face determines whether it is used confidently. The convention that works is to keep the lighting on the left and the curtains and scenes on the right, applied consistently in every room of the same type, and to record the arrangement with the group addresses so that a replacement panel can be commissioned to match the original.
Because the finish is neutral, it is often carried across a whole floor, which makes the frames easy to source but the labelling easy to get wrong: a panel labelled for one room and fitted in another will still operate and will still be misleading. The proximity function and the separate night brightness both need to be set with the panel installed and viewed in darkness, and the scene numbering should be a project decision rather than a room decision.
- Office floors are the largest application, where a neutral four-key panel is repeated across rooms that differ in layout but not in the way the lighting is controlled.
- Hotels use it in meeting rooms and public areas where lighting and blinds are operated together and a plain finish is preferred.
- Healthcare buildings specify it where a clean, neutral device is required at the bedside and in consulting rooms.
- Schools and universities apply it in teaching rooms where the lighting, screen, and blinds are grouped.
- Transport buildings use it in waiting areas and lounges where the panel has to survive heavy use while remaining visually quiet.
Where a project needs more groups in a few rooms, the six-key variant of the same finish is used without altering the appearance of the installation.
