NP16164_01MS Schneider Unica Range KNX Wall Station with Eight Keys Metallic Silver Status LEDs Coupler
The NP16164_01MS is the eight-key Unica KNX wall station in a metallic silver finish — the combination chosen when a project needs the largest control capacity in the range while still presenting a machined metal face rather than a utility panel. The wall station carries its own bus coupling unit and is supplied entirely from the KNX bus, drawing approximately 18 mA and requiring no mains connection at the wall. It connects via a bus connecting terminal and is commissioned in ETS5 or higher.
Eight keys with a backlit surface mean the plate presents a uniform plane when the room is idle and only reveals its functions when touched or approached. The symbols themselves are applied from the prefabricated foils included with the device rather than engraved, so labelling is a commissioning decision rather than an ordering one. Short and long operation can be distinguished on every key, and the application program adds value output, shift register behaviour, RGB and RGBW control, and colour temperature control.

Eight keys on one plate is the configuration most likely to be programmed inconsistently between rooms. The only reliable defence is a written layout convention applied without exception — lighting on one side, curtains next, and scenes at the end — held together with the group addresses and the foil symbols used.
On a metallic finish, the fixing frame and cover frame are the parts most often ordered incorrectly, because the wall station ships without either. The three parts should be specified together and in the same shade, since a mismatched frame is conspicuous against metal.
The backlighting has separate normal and night brightness settings and a proximity function. On an eight-key plate the emitted light is significant, so the night setting should be judged in the actual room after dark. Where the plate recalls scenes, the scene names should be recorded as well as the numbers, because a number alone is meaningless to anyone who did not commission the installation.
Executive boardrooms and premium meeting rooms are the strongest application, where lighting, blinds, and several presentation conditions are operated from one position and the metal finish matches the furniture.
Hotels use it in suites and public rooms where a large number of functions is required from a single visible position. High-end residential projects specify it in principal rooms where the lighting is layered and the client expects comprehensive control.
Showrooms and flagship retail interiors apply it where a large open area is divided into zones and the wall device is part of the design. Control rooms and operator areas use it where several systems have to be operated from one plate.
Because the same design is available at four, six, and eight keys, this version is chosen where the installation demands the greatest number of independently operable functions from a single wall position.
