NP16214_01MS Schneider Unica Bus 8-Button Comfort Controller FCU VRF Floor Heating Metallic Silver
The NP16214_01MS is the eight-button thermostat panel of the Unica KNX range in a metallic silver finish. Its specification is best understood as two devices sharing a single 86 mm plate. The first is an eight-key push button arranged on four rockers, three modules wide, with a surface that reads as a uniform plane when idle. The second is a room thermostat with an integrated temperature sensor, supporting fan coil units, variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems, floor heating and ventilation, with heating and cooling as the declared application types.
Local signalling is provided by amber and white LEDs, and the device carries built-in overcurrent protection, a varistor and reverse polarity protection. It is supplied with its fixing frame and a set of twenty symbols, draws nothing from the mains, and sits on the KNX bus as a single twisted-pair device with an installation depth of 29.3 mm.

The metallic finish makes the frame and the plate one visual object, which is why the fixing frame is supplied with the device rather than as an afterthought: a shade difference in a metallic assembly is far more visible than on a neutral one, and the frame that arrives in the box is the frame that matches.
On the thermal side, the practical question is the reference sensor. Because a combined device measures where it is mounted, and the fan coil application allows the internal sensor, an external sensor or a combination to be used, the external option should be commissioned from the start on a wall with direct solar gain.
Eight keys with short and long operation give sixteen usable functions, so the layout needs a written convention held with the group addresses. The set of twenty symbols supplied with the device is generous, but the symbols actually used should be recorded per room, because a plate labelled for one room and fitted in another operates perfectly and misleads the occupant.
Hotel suites and premium guest rooms are the main application, where one plate controls the lighting, the curtains and the room temperature, and the guest reads the setpoint at night. Serviced apartments and executive offices apply it where the occupant sets the room condition on arrival and the metal finish matches the furniture, while high-end residential projects use it in principal rooms where a keypad and a thermostat would otherwise be two separate wall devices.
Meeting rooms and boardrooms specify it where both services are adjusted during a session, and healthcare consulting rooms use it where the temperature has to be visible to staff. Where a project mixes finishes, the metallic silver version is generally chosen for the rooms where the device is visible rather than tucked behind a door.
