Product Description
Product Overview

The C2E616202_MB_C1 is the metal four-gang keypad of the Cuadro H range in matt black — the variant positioned between the plastic four-gang plate and the glass version in the same colour. The article coding is consistent across the family: the 202 block denotes four gangs, the middle digit 02 indicates a metal faceplate, and MB stands for matt black. A buyer who has learned the rule can therefore tell from the article number alone whether a quotation is for plastic, metal, or glass.

The device is a KNX bus participant with an integrated coupling unit, supplied at 21 to 30 V DC and drawing approximately 13 mA at 24 V through a two-core bus connector. There is no mains connection and therefore no load restriction at the wall. It measures 86 × 86 × 29 mm, carries a metal retaining ring with a maximum tightening torque of 6 kgf·cm, and is certified to CE and the KNX standard.

System Integration Notes

Metal plates change the sensing problem rather than only the appearance. Schneider Electric states that the proximity sensitivity of this device is closely related to its material, and that the material must be configured in ETS alongside one of two sensitivity levels — default or high. A metal plate left configured as plastic will produce a sensing distance that drifts with the environment and with the person; the instructions already warn that microwave detection varies with surroundings, panel material, and individual hand size and speed.

The second consequence is electrical: with a metal front in place, the SELV discipline for the bus wiring becomes physically meaningful. Where the plate is combined with 230 V accessories in a multi-gang frame, the separation must be maintained by the installer. Insulate the shield and the stability wire, insulate the white and yellow cores, and land only red on plus and black on minus.

Installation reminder: Always configure the correct panel material in ETS before commissioning. Incorrect material selection will cause unreliable proximity sensing behaviour.
Application Scenarios

This is the plate for rooms where four gangs of control and a metal finish are both required — a narrow but real specification. Typical applications include:

  • Hotel suites — where lighting, curtains, and a scene are controlled from the entrance, and the wall is a dark veneer that a polymer plate would not match.
  • Executive offices and director-level rooms — where the hardware is specified to the same standard as the door furniture.
  • High-end residential projects — in living rooms with layered lighting, where the client has requested metal throughout.
  • Boardrooms — where blinds, presentation lighting, and general lighting are all operated from the door, and where metal two-gang plates have already been chosen for smaller rooms, keeping the larger rooms in the same material without changing the visual language of the floor.
