The MTN6705-0008S is an eight channel switch and blind actuator from the Schneider Electric SpaceLogic KNX range, configured as the master device of its family and rated for 250 V, 16 A per channel. It is designed so that the same eight outputs can either switch individual loads or drive blind and shutter motors, with four outputs paired to serve a single motor where that is required, which gives a project the choice between eight switched circuits or four blind drives without changing hardware. The Secure variant adds KNX Secure capability, so commissioning and communication can be protected according to the security requirements now appearing in commercial specifications. As the master it not only contains the application logic but also provides the internal bus and power for expansion modules, and up to two extensions can be connected, which raises the potential total to twenty-four switched loads or twelve blind drives from one addressable device.

Sizing this device correctly is a question of counting outputs rather than of counting circuits, because a blind motor consumes two outputs and therefore halves the number of drives an eight channel unit can serve. The master and extension hierarchy has a further practical consequence: the application runs on the master, so topology should be planned so that the master sits where its bus connection is convenient and the extensions are physically adjacent, and the cabling between them should be installed with the same care as any other bus wiring. Because the outputs are rated at 16 A, the constraint in a real panel is usually the rating of the upstream protective device and the physical cable size at the terminals rather than the actuator itself, so the load schedule should be checked against the supply arrangement before the board is built. Manual override at the device is valuable during commissioning and worth demonstrating at handover.
