Product Description
Product Overview

Six gangs on a stainless face is a specification that only appears when a room has a real lighting design and a metal interior, and C2E616302_ST_C1 is that combination. The identification follows the family rule without exception: 302 is six gangs, the 02 is a metal faceplate, ST is the stainless finish, and the C1 suffix is the sales area code rather than a product difference.

The bus side is identical to the smaller plates and is the reason the range is easy to document: KNX TP, 21 to 30 volts DC, approximately 13 milliamperes at 24 volts, coupling unit inside the device, two-core KNX connector with red to plus and black to minus, no mains terminal and therefore no rating to reconcile against the circuit. At 86 by 86 millimetres and 29 millimetres deep it fits the same box and the same frame as the rest of the family.

System Integration Notes

Six gangs produces twelve operations with short and long presses, and that is the point at which the commissioning document becomes more valuable than the hardware. The workable pattern is to fix the order by function across every room of a type, record each gang against its group address, and mark spare gangs as spare so they are not improvised later.

The stainless face adds two constraints:

  • The proximity sensor is microwave based, its sensitivity depends on the panel material, and the material plus one of two sensitivity levels must be set in ETS — so steel has to be declared as steel.
  • The metal front means the SELV rules are physical rather than theoretical, with basic insulation to the retaining ring kept intact and bus wiring kept clear of any 230 volt accessory sharing the frame.
Insulate the shield, the stability wire and the white and yellow cores, and land only the red and black bus cores on the connector.
Application Scenarios

Stainless six gang plates belong where a room has several lighting groups and the wall finish is metal.

  • Hotel kitchens, pantries and service areas — used where the lighting is split between work, circulation and extract, and the plate has to survive a cleaning regime that would dull paint.
  • Residential kitchens with steel splashbacks — applied where the worktop, the island and the dining lighting are separate circuits and the client wants one plate rather than three.
  • Corporate catering and staff rooms — specified because the plate is operated by many people with no training, and a fixed six gang layout with clear icons is easier to hand over than a scene panel.
  • Mixed-finish projects — where a project uses stainless in the bathrooms and service areas and glass in the guest rooms, this version keeps the back of house consistent while the public side carries the design finish. The shared 86 millimetre footprint means the two families sit side by side without a change in wall cutting.
