5WG1527-4CB23 JB 527C23 KNX Switch/Dim Actuator 1x AC 277V 20A 0/1-10V for 4x4 Junction Box
The 5WG1527-4CB23, catalogue type JB 527C23, is a bus-powered KNX actuator that pairs one heavy-duty switching contact with one analogue 0/1-10 V control output. It was designed for luminaires that are switched directly from the mains but dimmed through the analogue interface of an electronic control gear (ECG) or LED driver, so one compact module covers both the load circuit and the dimming line. The electronics take their energy from the bus, which keeps the wiring inside the junction box short and simple.
- Protocol and supply: KNX TP1 device, bus voltage DC 24 V (DC 21-30 V) taken from the bus line, bus current 15 mA, no additional power supply required.
- I/O points: 1 potential-free bistable relay output (Line hot and Load leads, AWG 12) plus 1 passive DC 0/1-10 V control output on the DIM A and DIM COMMON pair.
- Switching rating: rated operational voltage 120 / 277 / 347 V AC at 50-60 Hz; maximum 20 A per device for general purpose and magnetic ballast loads (200 uF max.), covering 20 A at 347 V, 277 V and 120 V.
- Control output: up to 100 mA at 25°C, equivalent to roughly 50 ECGs drawing 2 mA each, and 85 mA at 45°C with a linear derating curve; the output is protected against accidental connection to mains and rises to 10 V if the bus voltage fails.
- Sensing and auxiliary functions: switching-cycle counter plus operating-hours counter with threshold monitoring, integrated 8-bit scene control for up to 8 scenes, configurable dimming and switching behaviour per output.
- Environmental: ambient operation -5 to +45°C, storage -25 to +70°C, relative humidity 5 to 93 percent non-condensing, degree of protection IP20, pollution degree 2, overvoltage category III, SELV bus.
- Mechanics: plastic housing 70 x 90 x 44.6 mm, approximately 245 g, 1/2 inch threaded nipple, installed in or on a 4 x 4 inch junction box with at least 54 mm depth; screwless push-connect KNX terminal block for 0.6-0.8 mm single-core bus wire.
- Approvals: KNX, UL and cUL listed (UL 916 enclosed energy management equipment, UL 2043 plenum rated, file E464611), IEC 63044-3, FCC Part 15 Class B, CAN ICES-3(B)/NMB-3(B).
- Configuration: Engineering Tool Software (ETS) or the Desigo Room Automation commissioning tool ABT.
Typical use is commercial lighting in North America where fluorescent or LED luminaires are switched on the mains side and dimmed through a 0/1-10 V input. Because the module fits a standard 4 x 4 inch junction box and is plenum rated, it suits ceiling voids in offices, corridors, classrooms and retail floors, as well as parking garages and stairwells with motion-based control. It is also a practical retrofit choice when an existing analogue dimming circuit must be brought onto KNX without replacing the drivers or running new cables back to a panel.
