NP16163_01SL Schneider Unica Range KNX Wall Station with Six Keys Silver Status LEDs Bus Coupler Unit
The NP16163_01SL is the six-key member of the Unica KNX wall station family in the silver finish — the neutral grey silver specified where a control point must be repeated across many rooms without becoming a feature of the interior. The functional architecture is consistent across the family and worth stating plainly: six keys, each with a backlit symbol that is invisible until the plate is active, a status LED in cool white and warm white, and an integrated bus coupling unit so that the device sits on the KNX line through a bus connecting terminal with no separate interface.
Every key can distinguish a short operation from a long one, which doubles the usable functions. The extended settings of the application program add value output, shift register operation, RGB and RGBW control, and colour temperature control where the luminaires support it. The device draws approximately 18 milliamperes from the bus and requires no mains supply.

Because this finish is neutral, it is the one most often carried across an entire floor. That raises a documentation question rather than a technical one: a panel labelled for one room and fitted in another will operate perfectly and will still mislead the occupant. The foil symbols actually used need to be recorded against the room number and the group addresses.
On a silver face, the cover frame has to match not only in colour but in surface. A gloss frame against a matte panel is more obvious than the same mismatch on a dark finish. The proximity function is worth enabling in corridors and disabling in bedrooms, and the separate night brightness should be set by looking at the plate in darkness.
Where a project mixes key counts, the six-key version is usually the one that covers circulation and public rooms where the lighting is more elaborate than in the guest rooms themselves.
- Office floors — the largest application, where a neutral six-key plate is repeated across rooms that differ in layout but not in the way the lighting is operated.
- Hotels — used in corridors, lobbies and meeting rooms where a plain finish is preferred and the lighting, curtains and blinds are operated from one position.
- Healthcare buildings — specified where a clean neutral device is required and the lighting is grouped for clinical use.
- Schools and universities — applied in teaching rooms where the lighting, projection screen and blinds are controlled together.
- Transport buildings — used in lounges and waiting areas where the plate has to survive heavy operation while remaining visually quiet.
Because the finish is available across the whole range, this version lets a project keep one visual language while varying the number of functions per room.
