NP16212_01SL Schneider Unica Range KNX Wall Station Five Keys Silver plus Thermostat Display Screen Panel
The NP16212_01SL is the combined Unica KNX push button and room thermostat in the silver finish — the neutral grey silver that allows the device to be repeated across many rooms without becoming a design feature. The plate carries five operating buttons with status indicators and a display showing the actual room temperature with the heating, cooling and ventilation status. An integrated sensor measures the room from the control position, so the device is simultaneously the room interface and the room sensor.
The thermostat application supports fan coil units, variable refrigerant flow systems, floor heating and ventilation. The fan coil type allows the room temperature reference to be taken from the internal sensor, an external sensor or a combination of both. The unit draws approximately 18 milliamperes for the push button section and approximately 22 milliamperes for the thermostat section from the KNX bus, requires no mains connection at the wall and occupies two modules.

Because the sensor and the controller share one position, the choice of temperature reference is the decision that determines whether the room controls well. On a wall exposed to draughts, glazing or direct solar gain, the external or mixed option is not an improvement but a requirement.
The fan coil application also offers a window contact and setpoint adjustment, both of which should be commissioned with the temperature loop rather than added later, since the wiring is already at the device. The five keys behave as they do on the thermostat-free versions of this wall station, so the layout convention, the foil symbols and the group addresses all need to be documented against the room number.
The display brightness and standby behaviour are set in the application. On this device the standby setting deserves particular attention because a display is more conspicuous in a dark room than a backlit key symbol — in a hotel bedroom that is the difference between a device that disappears at night and one that does not.
Office developments are the largest application, where a neutral combined device is repeated across rooms that differ in layout but not in the way the temperature and lighting are used.
Hotels specify it in guest rooms where the guest expects to read and adjust the temperature and control the lighting from one position.
Healthcare buildings use it in consulting and treatment rooms where the room condition has to be visible to staff and adjustable without a second device.
Serviced apartments, student accommodation and co-living buildings apply it because consolidating two functions into one plate reduces the number of wall devices and the coordination required at each position. Where a project uses several finishes and key counts, the neutral finish allows this thermostat version to sit inside the same visual family as the lighting-only wall stations used elsewhere in the building.
