Product Description
Product Overview

The MTN6600-0603 is a DIN rail module that places three channels of electrical measurement onto the KNX line. It is typically specified late in a project when it becomes apparent that the energy dashboard has no sub-metering behind it. The module measures active energy, current and power on three circuits at 230 V AC, reads current through 0 to 20 mA current transformers rather than directly, and reports Class 1 active energy accuracy to IEC 61557-12, with power and current to within ±10 percent.

It draws 24 V DC and less than 12.5 mA from the bus, so it adds nothing meaningful to the power supply budget. It occupies four 18 mm steps (72 mm of rail) in a housing 90 mm high and 67 mm deep. The front carries a green run LED, a red programming LED and per-channel status LEDs.

System Integration Notes

The practical work lies in the current transformers and in the alarm logic. Because the inputs are 0 to 20 mA, the module cannot be connected in series with a load, and the transformers must be sized for the circuit they monitor. A mismatch produces a reading that looks plausible but is wrong — which is worse than no reading at all.

On the software side, the module offers energy management functions with alarm thresholds and an adjustable tolerance. These are what turn a meter into a diagnostic tool: a threshold on a circuit that should idle overnight will flag a stuck contactor or a heater left on, while a tolerance band around an expected load will catch a failed phase.

Important commercial note: This reference is withdrawn from the catalogue and production ends on 31 December 2026. It belongs in maintenance and replacement stock rather than in a new design without a successor check.
Application Scenarios

Three-channel metering of this kind fits buildings that already run KNX for lighting and want consumption visibility without a separate metering network.

  • Hotel back of house: applied to kitchen, laundry and public lighting circuits, where three channels per board cover the loads that dominate the bill.
  • Small offices: applied to lighting, socket and HVAC circuits so that tenant recharge has a basis.
  • Retail units: applied to lighting, refrigeration and general power, where a change in the overnight profile is the first sign of a failing cabinet.
  • Schools and clinics: specified on circuits that run outside occupancy hours, because the alarm threshold then performs the work of an energy audit continuously rather than annually.
  • Existing buildings: often the cheapest route to sub-metering, since the transformers clip onto existing conductors and no circuit has to be rewired.
