Product Description
Product Overview

White is the default for a reason, and the SE8350U0B11 is the version that disappears into the wall in the majority of rooms: 120 millimetres high, 86 millimetres wide, 25 millimetres deep, a plain white case with a matte finish and a display that shows temperature, mode and fan state without competing with the room. Under the cover it is the SE8300 platform, a 24 volt AC low voltage controller with five relay outputs, four universal outputs capable of 0 to 10 volts, two dry contact inputs and five analog inputs, and two protocol stacks, BACnet MS/TP and Modbus RTU, selected at commissioning rather than at order.

System Integration Notes

The practical difference between this and the PIR version is the absence of occupancy sensing in the cover, and that absence changes the control strategy rather than just the bill of materials. Without a local PIR the controller cannot decide on its own that a room is empty, so the occupancy signal has to arrive over the bus from a key card holder, a door contact, a ceiling sensor or the reservation system.

In a hotel that is usually the better arrangement, because the room status is already known to the guest management system and a second opinion from a PIR can contradict it at exactly the wrong moment. In an office the reverse is often true, which is why the same family is offered with a PIR cover. Deciding which version to buy is therefore a decision about where occupancy intelligence lives, not a decision about features.

Application Scenarios

This controller is the workhorse of the family and appears wherever a fan coil or a zone needs a deterministic terminal controller with a visible display. Hotel guest rooms specify it in white because the wall is white and the plate family is white, and because the absence of a PIR avoids the classic complaint of a room going dark while a guest is reading. Offices apply it to individual rooms and perimeter zones where the schedule comes from the BMS. Residential apartments use it on fan coil or underfloor zones where the occupant needs a simple setpoint and fan control, and clinics and consulting rooms specify it where a plain white controller is preferred to a coloured one.

Its carbon figure is published at 184 kilograms of CO2 equivalent over the life cycle, of which 166 kilograms fall in the use phase — a reminder that the electricity consumed by the fan coil dominates the environmental cost of the controller itself.
