MT11003 Four Inch KNX Touch Panel Smart Room Controller Colour Display Flush Mounted Wall Panel Device
The MT11003 is a four-inch KNX touch panel built as a room controller rather than a display. The screen is the interface, the bus is the field connection, and everything the room needs is programmed into the panel instead of being spread across a keypad row and a separate thermostat.
The plate follows the 86 mm accessory grid, so it sits flush with the sockets and keypads around it, and it mounts on a standard 60 mm wall box with a screw-fixed mounting plate. Power for the display comes from a 24 V DC auxiliary input while the bus carries the telegrams — the arrangement almost every four-inch KNX panel uses, and the one that keeps display brightness independent of bus load.

Commissioning follows the usual KNX sequence with one addition that surprises first-time users: the panel needs both its ETS application and its visual layer. The ETS side defines the group addresses, the scenes, the setpoint objects and the weekly programme; the visual side defines which page appears at rest, what the standby screen shows, how the icons are named and how long the backlight stays on after the last touch. Getting the two aligned is what separates a panel that feels designed from one that feels programmed.
Two practical points belong in the installation note:
- Depth: A touch panel is deeper than a keypad, so the wall box and the conduit entry need checking before the wall is closed — particularly in a stud partition.
- Position: The panel should be at the same height as the switch plates it replaces, with a clear approach, and away from direct sun if the screen is expected to be readable at midday.
Four-inch panels are the right size where the room has a handful of functions and the client wants them named.
- Hotel guest rooms — lighting scenes, solar protection and temperature in a single plate, with a standby screen showing the time and room number.
- Serviced apartments — tenants can change a scene without a manual.
- Residential projects — specified in bedrooms and living areas where a bank of keypads would be visually unacceptable.
- Small offices — meeting rooms for source and scene selection.
- Clinics — rooms needing a visible temperature and simple mode selection without a full building management interface.
Because the panel is square and follows the accessory grid, it is also the version architects accept most readily in a scheme where a rectangular screen would break the wall pattern.
