Product Description
Product Overview

The SE8350U0B00 is the silver member of the SE8300 room controller family. The silver finish is not a cosmetic afterthought: it is the version specified where the controller sits on a brushed metal or painted panel and a white plastic housing would be the only pale object on the wall.

Functionally, it is a low-voltage fan coil and zone controller with two protocol stacks built in — BACnet MS/TP and Modbus RTU — so the same device can join a BACnet trunk in one building and a Modbus network in the next without a gateway. It runs on 24 V AC with 15 percent tolerance, carries a 4 A line rating, and provides five relay outputs and four universal outputs capable of delivering 0 to 10 V.

System Integration Notes

The input side is where the engineering effort goes. Seven inputs are available — two dry contact and five analog — and the analog channels accept 0 to 10 V, covering a remote temperature sensor, a CO₂ transmitter, a pressure sensor, or damper position feedback depending on the application.

The onboard sensing uses a 10 kOhm T2 NTC thermistor for temperature and a bulk polymer element for humidity, with accuracy quoted at ±0.5 °C and ±5 percent relative humidity between 20 and 80 percent. This is adequate for comfort control, but not adequate for a laboratory environment.

The controller supports economizer logic and humidity control, but it has no PIR cover and no onboard scheduling, so occupancy and time programs must come from the supervisory system. This is a deliberate product split rather than a limitation: scheduling lives in the head end, and the controller remains a deterministic terminal unit.

Application Scenarios

Silver SE8300 controllers are used where the room finish is metal or dark. Hotel guest rooms with brushed stainless switch plates use them so the controller matches the plate family, and apartments with dark joinery specify them because a white housing would stand out beside a black keypad.

Small commercial offices apply them on perimeter zones where the controller is visible to occupants, and clinics use them where the wall is a washable grey and the controller should not read as a piece of medical equipment.

In plant rooms and ceiling voids the colour is irrelevant, which is why the same electronics is also sold in white for those locations. The silver version exists for the rooms where somebody looks at it every day.
