Product Description
Product Overview

Eight gangs in stainless steel is a narrow specification, and it exists because some rooms need both the maximum control count in the range and a metal face that matches the surrounding fabric. C2E616402_ST_C1 carries that combination: the 402 block is eight gangs, the 02 digit is a metal faceplate, and ST is the stainless finish, which distinguishes it from the black metal eight gang plate and from the glass eight gang plate of the same size.

The device is a plain KNX TP node, supplied at 21 to 30 volts DC and approximately 13 milliamperes at 24 volts, with the coupling unit integrated, two bus cores terminated red to plus and black to minus, and no mains terminal at all. That is why the same plate can run lighting, blinds or scenes and why nothing in the enclosure limits the loads it commands.

System Integration Notes

On an eight gang plate the documentation is the difference between a system that works and a system that is operated by guesswork. Sixteen operations should be assigned in a fixed order across every identical room, with the group addresses written against each gang and the unused gangs marked spare.

Two parameters then need deliberate attention:

  • The proximity sensing is microwave based and material dependent, so the steel face must be declared in ETS together with one of two sensitivity levels.
  • The metal front means the SELV rules apply in full, with basic insulation to the retaining ring preserved and bus wiring kept separate from any 230 volt accessory in the frame.

Mounting itself is ordinary: a box of at least 35 millimetres depth (not supplied), a retaining ring at no more than 6 kgf.cm, buttons that are not removable, and a dust cover that stays on until the decoration is finished.

Application Scenarios

Stainless eight gang plates appear in commercial kitchens, service corridors, plant rooms and premium residential utility areas, which is a different set of rooms from the ones that take the black metal version. The common thread is a space where eight functions are needed and the surfaces are already steel.

  • A production kitchen where the lighting, the extract and the circulation are separate circuits.
  • A service corridor where the lighting is zoned by length rather than by room.
  • A plant room where the plate has to be understood by staff who did not commission it.
  • Residential utility and plant areas where the client wants the technical spaces to look finished rather than provisional.
  • Premium spa and wellness areas where the plate sits beside stainless fittings and has to survive humidity in the room.
The device itself is rated IP20 and intended for indoor dry locations. The stainless faceplate provides surface durability and aesthetic consistency with surrounding stainless fixtures, but does not alter the device's IP rating.
