Product Description
Product Overview

Stainless steel on a thermostat is a material decision with a maintenance consequence, and the C2E621201_ST_C1 is the version of the Cuadro H room controller where that consequence has to be explained before the order rather than after. The device itself is the familiar bus-powered room controller: KNX TP at 21 to 30 volts, about 19 milliamperes at 24 volts, a colour touch screen, an internal temperature sensor, and control of fan coil units, underfloor loops and fresh air units through group addresses.

What changes is the front. A steel plate does not yellow, does not craze and does not pick up the static that attracts dust to a plastic face, which is why it is specified in rooms that are cleaned aggressively. It also shows every fingerprint at an angle and cannot be brought back once it has been scratched across the brush direction.

System Integration Notes

The installation rules for this version combine the general siting requirements with the specific obligations of a metal front. The sensor sits inside the plate and reads the air where the plate hangs, so the instructions demand 30 centimetres of clear space in front, 3 centimetres below, no direct sunlight, and distance from radiators, heating vents and air conditioning outlets; a steel plate does not change that physics.

What it does change is the electrical discipline. With a metal front, the requirement to maintain basic insulation to the retaining ring becomes a physical obligation rather than a drawing note. If the thermostat is combined with other accessories in a multi-gang frame, the separation of the bus wiring from any mains conductor is the installer's responsibility.

Cleaning is restricted to a soft dry cloth, with no solvents and no abrasives. In a hotel environment, this means the housekeeping instruction has to differ from the one used on the bathroom fittings.
Application Scenarios

Stainless thermostats belong where the surrounding metal is already visible. Typical installations include:

  • Hotel guest bathrooms with steel towel rails and mirror frames, where the plate sits in that company and the room controller for the underfloor loop is the natural place for the finish to continue.
  • Residential kitchens and utility rooms where the splashback is steel and the client has asked for one metal language across the room.
  • Spa and wellness areas where the surfaces are steel and the air is humid, even though the device itself is rated IP20 for dry indoor locations.
  • Serviced apartments and premium student accommodation where the fit-out has to resist heavy use without looking institutional.
  • Projects using stainless keypads in the same room, where the thermostat keeps the plate family consistent so that the wall reads as one installation rather than a controller dropped into a scheme designed for something else.
